We escaped São Paulo to spend a weekend with friends on the organic coffee farm Fazenda Ambietal Fortaleza (FAF) which is located in Mococa around 270km outside of São Paulo.
The farm has been in the Barretto Family since 1850 and is now owned by Silvia and Marcos. They continued the traditional farming methods and turned the farm into an organic one taking into consideration the environment and relationships between people while producing high quality products.
FAF provides nice little guest cottages. Meals are served on the terrace of the main building on a long table were all visitors eat together with the hosts Silvia & Marcos. Most of the food comes from the farm itself (home made cheese, honey,…) and is fresh and organic.
On Saturday morning Silvia who explained us in detail all the processes about their specialty coffee showed us around on the farm where also lots of animals live (horses, cows, chickens). It was very interesting to learn about their production and harvest.
In the afternoon we had the pleasure to taste different kind of coffee sorts and to learn more about high quality organic coffee.
I can highly recommend visiting FAF for a relaxing weekend in a beautiful and peaceful surrounding. Check out their website for more details on the activities they offer: www.fafbrazil.com
